Windows 2000 Server Compliant DAF 4.2 corrects all known problems with older releases when used with Windows 2000 Server. Oracle System Compliant DAF 4.2 will be fully Oracle compliant. With older releases, with a user database stored on an oracle server all features involving a date would fail due to the specific syntax required by Oracle systems. IP Filtering This new feature enables one to map a login, password and groups information to any incoming HTTP requests originated from predefined IP addresses and networks. For example, it is possible to set up a configuration where a user would login automatically to a web site if connecting from his LAN and have the user type in a login and password if connecting from the Internet.
Contextual Help in the DAF Configuration Tool Within the DAF Configuration Tool, on most window two help buttons are available.
Improved Web User Manager for ODBC user database
Remote drives protection With DAF 4.2, it is now possible to protect a remote directory with DAFAUTH.INI files. SSL connection for HTML login form With DAF 4.2, it is now possible to use an SSL connection in conjunction with an HTML login form.
Two licenses level available (STANDARD and PRO) DAF 4.2 licenses will be available with two levels: STANDARD and PRO. The first level is intended to replace DAF 3.5 (which will no longer be supported in the near future), the second improves DAF 4.0. Features available with the PRO license and not with the STANDARD license:
IP-Code limitation (One license for One server) With DAF 4.0, the number of software applications installed with shared licenses compared to the number of registered licenses reached a point where it was, with no doubt, impossible to continue developing and supporting this product. The choice was to quit or to implement a protection to limit the number of shared licenses. This product represents more than 50,000 lines of code, three years of work and has many loyal users. We believe everything must be tried to save this venture. Therefore, DAF release 4.2 will include an IP-Code limitation feature which will bound a license key to a server IP address. For more information on the IP-Code please refer to the IP-Code FAQ.
